Welcome

About Me

Hi! I'm Bidushi (Tulip) Chandra, a PhD trained cellular biologist. I investigate glial cell regeneration in planarians under the mentorship of Dr. Rachel Roberts-Galbraith at University of Georgia (UGA). Specifically, I am interested in molecular pathways and components that are important for glial cell identity during regeneration. In addition, I am interested in how glial cells affect nervous system regeneration as a whole, including molecular and behavioral functions.

I earned my Bachelors of Science in Genetics at UGA, with a minor in Public Health in 2018. During my time in undergrad, I was heavily involved in many research fields: studying effects of microbiome in root development, being part of UGA's iGEM synthetic biology research team, and working on Hedgehog signaling pathway in eye development and performing CRISPR-Cas in lizard cells (under Dr. Jonathan Eggenschwiler). My passion for researching neural development, microscopy and molecular technique building led me to attend graduate school! Outside of lab, I enjoy reading, (food) photography, painting and traveling!
